Wagalus School is an elementary school in Fort Rupert, British Columbia. Fort Rupert is home to the Kwakiutl Peoples, and in turn to many famous and renowned artists, and knowledgeable elders. As such the school is visited at times by artists, and the cultural and language program is taught by Mary Hunt an elder from the community of Fort Rupert.
The school provides a welcoming environment for its students, parents, community members, and staff. In fact, on any given day you could find Theresa Johnson, our Head Start Cook, working in the kitchen cooking a delicious lunch. Many of our visitors have commented that our school feels much more like a home than a school. This is instilled by the staff as they promote a caring environment.
