LOCATION

The Village of Gold River is located near the geographic centre of Vancouver Island, 13 kilometres from the head of Muchalat Inlet on the west coast.

We sit at the junction of two rivers, the Gold and the Heber, enjoying  the best of what a temperate rain forest has to offer. Apart from being quite rare (temperate rain forests are now confined to thin bands along the coasts of North and South America and Europe), several characteristics make these forests unique. The most obvious are the large conifers, which grow to a very old age here. Stands of trees 300 to 400 years old are common, while individual trees over 1000 years in age are not unheard of.

Via the Inland Island Highway we are less than 3 hours from ferries in Nanaimo and only 1½ hours from the Comox airport.

The Gold River Highway (Hwy #28), which connects us to Campbell River and Highway #19, winds around Upper Campbell and Buttle Lakes bringing you through spectacular Strathcona Provincial Park, British Columbia's oldest provincial park.
