KINGHORN (TOWN HALL)

Oh, what a proud and royal
residence you must have
once been! Your turrets standing
firm, your hands on the clock
read by all who passed your
noble doors.
Now you serve another purpose-
A home for nesting gulls and doves.
A hub-bub of activity in springtime
shorebirds flutter, restless
back and forth
circle the sea and then
return to rest upon your castellated
rooftop.
An inquisitive dove pokes its head out
where your clock once read half-one.
Shattered, from years of neglect
you now have a new face...
but hardly a passerby peers up to notice.
