First Nations Fonts What are First Nations Fonts? .....

My wife needed to produce curriculum materials in her languages, Kwakwala, Gwa'salla and 'Nakwalla . She wanted to be able to type on the computer using the symbols unique to Kwakwala so I created a TrueType font which made it easy for her to produce crisp and professional looking documents. Word got around about how easy it was to install and use and soon many institutions within the linquistic group were asking for copies. The font is now in use on Windows and Macintosh systems all over the region. IPA symbols

Later, when I was asked to custom design font disks for other language groups including the Heiltsuk of Bella Bella, and the Nuu-chah-nulth on the west coast of Vancouver island, I realized there were probably many First Nations linquistic groups struggling with the challenge of creating computer generated documents.

With a First Nations Font you can use YOUR language on computers!.

We can custom design a TrueType font incorporating the special symbols required to type your First Nations language on the computer. FIRST NATIONS EDUCATION:

<>With my wife, Colleen, I have been involved in producing curriculum materials for native education programs for over 25 years. I wrote and illustrated a children's story a number of years back called "Where Do Clams Hide?"    Recently I've helped publish a number of educational books for School District 85; "My Elders Tell Me", GwaSala-'Nakwakda'xw Stories", "Exploring Tsulquate", Exploring, Quatsino", Exploring Tsaxis". I also helped publish the "AWAKWIS" a first nations newspaper for many years. I've learned a bit about  video-editing and how to create interactive CD's to broaden my capabilities in producing curriculum materials for native education. I've also been learning GIS mapping in order to help out in the Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw Nations' Treaty Office.
