I am continually struck by the interesting textures, surfaces and shapes that metals take on in response to their environment. A camera is never far away, so that I can record the endless variations that appear. Light, age, corrosion, and all the marks left by the work we do make steel and other materials a feast for the eyes.

New pictures from Saturn? This is an unretouched picture taken in the late afternoon sun, of some steel plate that sat under a blackberry bush by the seashore for many years. So many colors! I especially like the cobalt highlights- this may be bits of carbon leaching out of the steel.
Cold Steel

300 series stainless steel, partially textured. It was kind of odd to take polished bars and hammer the heck out of them, but the finished piece was worth it!
These elements became part of the sculpture on the "Architectural" page.
A trivet. This is on my business card as a purely abstract shape.

A rusty chunk of steel from the beach. This has been on our wall as "found art" for some years. Kind of looks like a ceremonial shield...
More textured stainless on the welding table.
For some reason this reminds me of fish in a stream....don't ask...
