| Born November 7 1949
in Vancouver
BC. Lived the first six years on a float camp at Broughton
Island. Moved to Campbell
River in 1957 then it was off to Dove
Creek in 1960 and three years later it was Cumberland.
At sixteen I was back up to
Kingcome Inlet to the float camps to start work in the logging
camps. I worked in camps from the Queen
Charlottes to Stave
Lake. In 1969 at age nineteen I hired on in Gold
River with the Tahsis Co. Later that year I got a job as hook-and-rig
and with it came a big raise to $4.01 per hour. That's when I bought my
girl friend, Judy
Doucette, an engagement ring. On September 27 we were wed. We had
a boy Shane Albert and a girl Shirley Michele. 1980 we moved to Gold
River. It was a great time raising those two kids. We did a lot of time
in our RVs and skiing at
Mt. Washington even some fishing. The last trip we all did together
took us all the way to San
Felipe Mexico. Shane and Shirley are both married now and we have
three grand children. All Girls, Cora, Jazzmin and Ashley.
Judy and I still live in Gold River where we enjoy a happy life doing our hobbies - boating - camping -fiddling - computer stuff and Judy is an artist. I still work as a logger although after I broke my knee on June 8th 2005 I changed my job from timber faller to bucker. I was a Faller for twenty five years. It was a good job but in the last ten years, sixty two Fallers were killed on the job. It's no job to work at unless your one hundred percent fit. I enjoy hunting and fishing in the area of Nootka Sound and are a member of the Gold River Rod and Gun Club where I have been the publicity officer for many years. The club usually has a membership of around 150 paid-up members. In 2005 I bought a little sailboat and named her "WHISPER" but could not do much with it that summer with my broken knee. I sure am looking forward to finding time this summer to do some sailing on it. I am totally allergic to fish but I seem to need to spend time on the water. It's probably from spending so much time on the float camps.
